Bring on the Catnip--- today we adopted a kitty!!
Last month on the full moon weekend a stray little Siamese kitty randomly arrived at our back door. Ironically, the kitty arrived almost a year to the day that our last cat passed away. The new kitty was oh so hungry and scrawny and had some healing wounds -- obviously she had been living a hard knock life! Since she arrived on full moon I gave her the temporary name of LUNA (not really knowing the gender). Luna didn't seem feral but maybe semi feral -- she can go from being social to hissing in a flash for no reason!! We posted Luna's photo on paw boost pet finder website but no one claimed her as their lost pet. So we've continued feeding her over the weeks and she continues to hang out on our porch. Today we decided it was THE day to take her to the vet to be checked out. We were braced for a very challenging time !! However to our surprise-- she went into the carrier fairly easy and was mostly sweet & social in the vet's office. The vet confirmed she did not already have a microchip .... and that she is really a SHE-- so Luna is now her official name! She weighs 6.3 pounds and is over 6 months old based on her teeth. She got all her shots, tests and treatments and did very well. Based on how she well she behaved at the vets office we decided we will try to transition her indoors so she has a bit easier life. If she is not happy we will move her back outdoors. Here are some photos of Luna from her day at the vet. Also a photo of her new plushy cozy kitty tent-- hoping she will like to sleep in there-- she deserves a comfy bed and some pampering!
